At Toolkit Gen (accessible from https://toolkitgen.com), one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by Toolkit Gen and how we use it.
A Straightforward Explanation
Let's be honest about how we work. Toolkit Gen is a free tool website that makes money through advertisements. That means we use some tracking technologies—but we want you to understand exactly what's happening and why.
The short version: Most of our tools run entirely in your browser. Your data doesn't go to our servers. We use ads to pay the bills. We don't sell your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
Toolkit Gen operates primarily as a client-side tool provider. This means that for the vast majority of our calculators, converters, and generators, the data you input is processed directly within your browser and is not sent to our servers.
However, we may collect:
- Log Files: Like many other websites, Toolkit Gen makes use of log files. The information inside the log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamp, referring/exit pages, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement around the site, and gather demographic information. IP addresses and other such information are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.
- Local Storage: We save your bookmarks, recent tools, and preferences in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device. Clear your browser data, and it's gone.
- Voluntary Correspondence: If you contact us directly via email ([email protected]), we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide.
2. What "Client-Side" Actually Means
Most tools on Toolkit Gen run entirely in your browser. When you use the TDEE calculator, for example, you enter your weight and height, the calculation happens on your computer, and the result appears on your screen. That data never touches our servers. We literally cannot see what you calculated because it happens on your device, not ours.
Some tools that use AI features or external APIs do send data to those services. If a tool sends data elsewhere, we always let you know in the tool's description.
3. Cookies and Web Beacons
Like any other website, Toolkit Gen uses "cookies". These cookies are used to store information including visitors' preferences, and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited. The information is used to optimize the users' experience by customizing our web page content based on visitors' browser type and/or other information.
Necessary cookies: These keep the site functional. Your preferences, bookmarks, and settings are saved locally.
Advertising cookies: Set by Google AdSense and other ad networks. Used to show relevant advertisements.
You can block cookies through your browser settings, but some site features may not work properly without them.
4. How Ads Work on This Site
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google uses cookies to show you ads based on your browsing history across the web. This is how most free websites work—advertisers pay for targeted ad space, and that revenue keeps the lights on.
Here's what that means for you:
- Google may track your visit to our site and use that information to show you relevant ads.
- Google's ad network has its own privacy policy, which you can read at policies.google.com/privacy.
- You can opt out of personalized ads from Google by visiting google.com/settings/ads.
- You can also opt out of third-party ad cookies using the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out page.
We don't have access to your personal data from Google's ad tracking. We're a small operation—we see page views and revenue reports, not individual user information.
5. Google DoubleClick DART Cookie
Google is one of a third-party vendor on our site. It also uses cookies, known as DART cookies, to serve ads to our site visitors based upon their visit to our site and other sites on the internet. However, visitors may choose to decline the use of DART cookies by visiting the Google ad and content network Privacy Policy at the following URL – https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
6. Google AdSense and Advertising Partners
Some of the advertisers on our site may use cookies and web beacons. Our advertising partners include Google AdSense. Each of our advertising partners has their own Privacy Policy for their policies on user data.
Third-party ad servers or ad networks use technologies like cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons that are used in their respective advertisements and links that appear on Toolkit Gen, which are sent directly to users' browser. They automatically receive your IP address when this occurs. These technologies are used to measure the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns and/or to personalize the advertising content that you see on websites that you visit.
Note that Toolkit Gen has no access to or control over these cookies that are used by third-party advertisers.
7. We Don't Sell Your Data
This is simple: we don't sell your personal information to anyone. We don't have a database of user profiles. We don't share your email address with advertisers. The only data sharing that happens is through Google's ad network, which operates under their own privacy policies.
8. CCPA Privacy Rights (Do Not Sell My Personal Information)
Under the CCPA, among other rights, California consumers have the right to:
- Request that a business that collects a consumer's personal data disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal data that a business has collected about consumers.
- Request that a business delete any personal data about the consumer that a business has collected.
- Request that a business that sells a consumer's personal data, not sell the consumer's personal data.
If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
9. GDPR Data Protection Rights
We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:
- The right to access – You have the right to request copies of your personal data.
- The right to rectification – You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate.
- The right to erasure – You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data.
10. Children's Information
Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity.
Toolkit Gen does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
11. Links to Other Websites
We may link to external websites—authoritative sources like CDC or NIH for health information, for example. These sites have their own privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.
The Site may contain (or you may be sent through the Site to) links to other websites or content belonging to or originating from third parties. Such external links are not investigated, monitored, or checked for accuracy, adequacy, validity, reliability, availability, or completeness by us.
12. Changes to This Policy
We'll update this page if our practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. If we make significant changes, we'll note them clearly.
